Blogger Challenge: Accepted!!

Hey Everyone!

The last couple weeks have been a hot mess.  I've battled migraines and the flu.
And it is the dreaded "annual reporting period" at the office.  I think my Forever Comfy in my office desk chair has finally molded to my bony little a$$ for sitting in it so long on the days I'm well enough to go in to the office.
But, I have found time to play in my craft room despite all the challenges.  Gots to make room in my hectic life for my happiness.  I told a girlfriend yesterday that sewing (as long as my machine and I weren't arguing) was like Tai Chi for me--calming and refreshing.  Wooooo Sahhhhhh.

Originally, since September is National Sewing Month, I intended to do a blog entry every week and showcase the fun things I've been working on during my nights and weekends.  Alas, I got sidetracked and that didn't happen.  However, a lovely friend presented a new and fun challenge that I have accepted.  Adorable Erin P. and I grew up going to church together here in Nashville.  She has since married my high school English teacher's son (small world) and they have 4 super adorable kids and live in NYC.  We use the magic of the internet to keep up with each other (thanks, Al Gore!).  I love social media for just this reason--people you've long ago lost can suddenly be a part of your daily life again.  You can watch their kids grow up, have conversations about good times and bad, share hobbies and interests; it's GREAT!  I've even made some new friends recently via Instagram, so I am loving this global interconnectedness we all have in our pockets.  Anyway, back to Erin.  She's crafty too and has enjoyed seeing my craftiness via Facebook, IG and now the blog and wanted to encourage me to keep going, so here is her challenge:   Write 3 more blogs before Halloween and she will go to the fabric district in NYC and send me something fun to use.  However, I must use whatever she sends me to to make something that I would wear--accessory, clothes, bag, whatever but it has to be on me.

I LOVELOVELOVE this idea.  But I added a clause to our rules, she has to send me something that she would like too, so I can make her something as well and send it back to her.  I think that's only fair.  Plus, every mama needs a little something pretty and fun when she's running after 4 littles, especially somebody as cute as Erin.

So, I have several things that I've been tinkering with and taking photos of in preparation to write about them.  Simon has even helped with a few...

Just kidding!  He was only in it to eat the glue that dripped on the floor.  My puppy is pretty much a 5 year old little kid with fur.  So I pledge to finish up these projects and get to writing so that you all can see the cute things I've been working on and so I can make something fun for me and Erin!  I don't count this as one of my 3 blogs either, I just wanted to give you all a few pics of the stuff I've been working on and tell you about the fun email I got today.   I think it's great fun.  And it's nice to know that someone out there likes what I'm doing and wants to see more.  A great bit of encouragement to brighten my Friday!!

So have a beautiful weekend, everybody.  My agenda for the weekend is to finish one of these projects so that I can show you all and also have it to use for myself.  TTFN!
